€140m Pupin Wind Farm Officially Opens in Vojvodina
Israel’s Enlight inaugurated its second Serbian wind farm, which can supply more than 40,000 households, next to its Kovačica project north of Belgrade.

The Pupin wind farm in the municipality of Kovačica was officially opened on 15 October. The €140m project can generate up to 220 GWh of electricity a year — enough for more than 40,000 Serbian households, according to figures presented at the inauguration.
Who built it
The roughly 94 MW farm was developed by Israel’s Enlight Renewable Energy with Serbian partner New Energy Solutions, and sits next to the 105 MW Kovačica wind farm that Enlight completed in 2019. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and Austria’s Erste Group provided a €91.4m financing package. Initial commercial operation began in December 2024.
Why it matters
Wind and solar are a growing share of Serbia’s generation mix, which remains dominated by coal. With electricity and fuel prices again pushing up inflation, new domestic generation reduces exposure to imports. The farm is named after the physicist and inventor Mihajlo Pupin, who was born in nearby Idvor.
